Based on the ancient medical practice of Ayurveda, this 5-part course was created and perfected by Doctors Deepak Chopra M.D. and David Simon M.D. Immerse yourself in this fascinating knowledge for 2-3 hours a week over a span of five weeks and learn practical ways to integrate everything you learn into your every day life.
During the course sessions, you will have the opportunity to bond with your fellow classmates through interactive exercises and sharing of personal stories in a retreat-like style as you explore each lesson. A highlight of the course is learning yoga movements, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques that we will practice together during every class. Even if you have limited mobility, you will learn modified yoga movements to release stress and improve mobility. In addition you will learn rich information unique to each class.
In week one, you will be introduced to the yoga, breathing, and meditation techniques. You will learn the basics of Ayurveda and learn how to determine your mind-body type; which is important in order to restore balance. Learning your mind-body type will assist you in reducing symptoms and become more in tune with your own body’s natural inclinations.
The Food as Medicine session, you will learn about the six tastes, and which foods to choose in order to bring balance to your mind-body type. You will learn about general nutrition, as well as ways to enhance a sluggish appetite, eliminate abdominal discomfort and reduce problems of constipation. We will talk about ways to expedite weight loss.
In week three, you will learn natural ways of detoxifying your mind and body. We will study an ideal daily routine and which methods of exercise will rebalance your mind-body type. If you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), we will explore ways to alleviate your discomfort during the winter season. In this session, we will also discuss methods to decrease insomnia or other sleep disturbances.
During this extremely important session, you will learn how to effectively release your emotions and communicate your needs. By applying the amazing work of Marshall Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, you will gain tools to improve all of your relationships. You will also go through exercises to discover your personal needs and desires; which will help focus your life’s goals.
Your body has amazing healing capabilities; in lesson five you will acquire ways to access your inner pharmacy through the five senses. This hands on lesson will not only keep you laughing but will also give you simple tools to balance and give you an overall sense of well being.

What does a typical consultation entail?
During a typical Ayurvedic Lifestyle consultation, your consultant will review your medical and lifestyle history including factors related to stress and stress management. Based on this holistic assessment, an individualized treatment plan based on your mind-body constitution (dosha) will be developed.

The purpose of the Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations is to provide insight and recommendations on lifestyle habits to engage the body’s natural healing ability.This appointment will empower you with lifestyle recommendations from an experienced consultant based upon your medical history, dosha imbalance and wellness goals. The consultation takes all of you into consideration, using a holistic approach within an Ayurvedic framework to provide you with mental, physical and spiritual guidance.
Q. How long are Ayurvedic Lifestyle phone consultations?
A. Initial consultations are 75 minutes. Follow up appointments are available in 30 minute increments to support an on-going relationship between you and the consultant.
Q. Will I receive anything written after the consultation?
A. Yes, you’ll be e-mailed a “Mind-Body Recommendation” form with supporting hand-outs on the topics and techniques advised during your consultation.
